Job description

Join a respected acute care healthcare organization as the Director of Surgical Services, providing strategic and operational leadership for a comprehensive perioperative department. This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced RN who is passionate about clinical excellence, team development, operational efficiency, and delivering outstanding patient outcomes.

This is an exempt, full-time leadership position working primarily Monday through Friday on a day schedule, with availability to support staff and departmental needs as required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily operations across multiple perioperative service lines.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team that includes nursing staff, surgeons, anesthesia providers, and sterile processing professionals.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and succession planning.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on patient safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage departmental budgets, contracts, vendor relationships, and purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Implement evidence-based practices to improve patient care, quality outcomes, and operational performance.
  • Monitor resource utilization, equipment needs, inventory management, and supply availability.
  • Support professional development initiatives and encourage ongoing education for clinical staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 5 years of surgical nursing experience.
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience within a surgical services environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).
