Requirements:

Overview:
This is a confidential opportunity to join a leading behavioral health organization as the Director of Behavioral Health Transfer Center. This fully remote leadership role oversees a high-volume transfer center supporting behavioral health admissions across numerous locations. Candidates must have strong clinical and operational expertise, preferably with a background in leading telephonic clinical programs or access/transfer center functions.
This newly created role reports directly to the COO and plays a critical part in streamlining patient placement and enhancing service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a remote team of clinical and non-clinical staff in coordinating behavioral health admissions and transfers
- Ensure timely, safe patient placement while maintaining compliance with EMTALA and other regulatory standards
- Collaborate with facility leadership and key departments to improve workflows, outcomes, and service levels
- Monitor performance metrics and conduct audits to drive improvements in quality and efficiency
- Support the recruiting, training, and performance management of the transfer center team
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining professionalism and clinical insight
- Troubleshoot process gaps and address high-acuity transfer scenarios as needed
- Provide oversight for 24/7 operations, including occasional weekend support
What We're Looking For:
- Licensed Clinician (RN preferred; LCSW or LPC considered with relevant experience) with multistate (compact) license
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, or Healthcare Administration
- Minimum 5 years in behavioral health or hospital operations, with at least 3 years in leadership
- Experience with behavioral health admission processes, call center operations, and telephonic care
- Strong data-driven decision-making and operational leadership skills
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as CMS, TJC, and HIPAA
- Proficiency in EMRs, call center software, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
