Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Access Triage Nurse Coordinator to join an inpatient behavioral health facility in Belle Mead, NJ. This role involves managing all admission-related activities during the evening shift, performing clinical triage, and ensuring smooth coordination between patients, medical staff, and intake processes. The shift runs from 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m., including every other weekend and two out of six holidays.

Key Responsibilities:
- Triage and assess all incoming patients, assisting with clinical data collection for medical providers.
- Support Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIPs) in completing medical clearances.
- Conduct patient interviews and identify critical clinical concerns.
- Collaborate with providers to facilitate admissions or appropriate referrals.
- Handle pre-admission procedures, including collecting clinical documents and insurance authorizations.
- Serve as a point person for staff direction during shift in collaboration with Access Supervisor or Director.
- Accurately document patient data and perform data entry into electronic medical systems.
- Respond to emergency situations and initiate appropriate care protocols.
- Act as a resource for clinical and administrative concerns during shift hours.
- Participate in training and onboarding of new team members.
- Perform registration and intake functions as needed, including phone triage and outpatient scheduling.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, ethical standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Current NJ RN license.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or within first 90 days).
- Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office or Google Suite effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN or MSN.
- At least 1 year of experience in an acute psychiatric or substance abuse facility.
- Experience as a New Jersey mental health screener or in behavioral health admissions.
- Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
